This is another of my favourite Sayings
“GOOD JUDGEMENT COMES FROM EXPERIENCE AND MOST OF THAT COMES FROM POOR JUDGEMENT”
Just how true is that. If we are honest and look back at the experience that we have gained through our working lives. a part of that will have been due to silly mistakes and poor judgement.
The same will no doubt be said about our employees, and unfortunately many times we do not take that into consideration, when forming an opinion or the resultant action required to remedy the situation.
So here is a very important Tip. In future when situations like this occur, take care before you criticise or punish a valuable employee for an honest mistake, to first consider all of the circumstances surrounding the poor decision as well as what good can be taken from the experience.
Once you have done that, there is a fair chance that your response will be completely different to what it would have been, and the trust and connection between you and the team member will be much greater.
